Couples counselling in Warrington & Northwich
Are you looking for a couples counsellor in Warrington or Northwich?
My name is Christina Broadbent, I am a fully qualified and experienced relationship counsellor. I offer couples counselling from my offices in the centre of Warrington and Northwich.
Couples therapy requires three people to work effectively. I understand that whilst you are attending as a couple, you are also individuals. I won’t take sides or make judgements on what you share.
In couples therapy we talk about the issues you are experiencing at the moment and how these problems can be overcome. We will also explore your (individual) needs and what you want from the relationship.
Relationship & Marriage counselling
No relationship is ever smooth sailing all the way through and sometimes you reach a point where you need some help to work through relationship issues.
One common problem is (mis)communication. You try to talk to each other, but just end up shouting at each other instead. In this environment neither you, nor your partner are actually hearing what is being said.
By sitting with a couples counsellor you can take the time to express yourself and really hear each other.
Previous clients have often told me “If we hadn’t come to see you, we would have split up by now”. Each time it makes me very happy to hear when couples have found each other again.
Whilst most of the clients I see for couples therapy are in some kind of crisis in their relationship, I also offer pre-marriage therapy to talk through the big issues for couples before marriage or other big decisions such as whether or not living together or having children. It’s about checking if you are on the same page, and working out how you are going to compromise when you are not.
We can talk about the expectations that you have of each other as life partners, about important topics such as money and children, and the roles you expect to take in your relationship. This can help you to get to know each other at a deeper level and to strengthen your relationship.
We will begin with a questionnaire which you both complete before the first session. We then work together in the first session to identify which topics are important to you. This individual tailoring makes the programme unique for you.
I can’t promise that pre-marriage counselling will make sure that things will be perfect, but my hope is that it puts you in a good position for your future together. It is a way to plan ahead to avoid problems occurring and to equip you to deal with the more rocky seasons, should they occur.
